My Bows: Carl Albert Nürnberger, ca. 1920-30

This Nürnberger bow is the first bow which I bought with my own money, back in 2018 - and it remains to be in my collection the longest. Many people have Nürnberger bows for a good reason - many fine, old German bows are much more affordable than their French counterparts, and coming from a Sartory, this bow felt very "foreign" to my hand at first. It's three-part eye and octagonal finish is so typical of a Nürnberger that it's obvious the model is based on Tourte. In the meantime I grew to love it - a quite agile bow and a shiny sound, it fits better for a certain type of repertoire, where clarity is needed.

It's quite different than the other Nürnberger bow (Franz A. Jr.) in my collection!

Do you prefer an old German bow, or a French one? Let me know in the comments.
